Looking to sell your home in 2023? What questions should you be asking when you’re interviewing a real estate agent? Today we’re going to talk about it.

Are you considering selling your home and you want to make sure that you pick the right real estate agent for you? I’m realtor Scott Himelstein with the Scott Himelstein Group in Los Angeles and here are the top three questions that you should be asking any real estate agent when they interview to sell your home. All right, let’s get right to it.

Question one, how and how often will you communicate with us? So open lines of communication are vital for any relationship, and so the relationship that you have with your realtor is no different. So, make sure that you set the timelines and the settings for how you want to be communicated with. Whether good or bad, you deserve to know exactly what’s happening with the sale of your home in real time. So that also begs the question of who’s going to be doing the communicating with you? Is it going be the real estate agent that you hire or somebody else on their team? Are you going to be okay with that? Do you want it to be text, email, phone call, once a week, after something happens in the transaction. You need to really clarify that with the real estate agent when you are interviewing them.

Question number two, what is your marketing plan? So as a seller, you want to make sure that your agent’s marketing plan is robust to create the most amount of buyer attraction. So just posting on the MLS just is not enough to get your home sold for top dollar. Make sure that your agent is using a plan that will get your home sold for the most amount of money possible. In addition to all the digital advertising that they’re doing and digital photography and video, what are they doing to actually prep your home for sale? That’s a huge component to the marketing that you need to ask about.

Question number three, how will you negotiate on our behalf during the transaction? So, make sure that your real estate agent has the expertise and experience to get your home sold for top dollar. The last thing that you want is an agent that won’t represent you or your family’s largest investment.

So, communication, marketing, and negotiation. And on the negotiation side, it’s really critical that your agent has the experience and know-how, how to deal with different markets as the tides constantly change. So these are the things that we find that are really critical for sellers to ask when you’re interviewing a real estate agent because not all real estate agents are the same.

So, if your agent has these three qualities I can ensure you that this will probably be a very smooth transaction all the way around.
